Tenki Link LLC built this site to show how Tokyo's microclimates connect. We didn't build it to harvest your data. Our approach to privacy is simple: we collect as little as possible, we store even less, and we never sell or share what we have with third parties for advertising or profiling purposes. This page explains what we do collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have about it.
What We Collect
When you visit Tenki Link, we receive standard technical information that your browser sends to every website: your IP address, browser type and version, the page you requested, the time of the request, and the referring page (if any). This is logged by our hosting server automatically and is necessary for the site to function. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors or to build profiles of browsing behavior.
When you submit our contact form, we collect the name, email address, topic, and message that you provide. This information is sent to us by email and is used solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add submitted email addresses to any mailing list without explicit consent, and we do not share contact form submissions with any third party.
We do not collect: precise location data, device identifiers, browsing history across other sites, or any information that could be used to personally identify you beyond what you voluntarily provide through the contact form.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use a single cookie — managed through your browser's localStorage — to record your cookie consent preference (accept or decline). This is necessary to comply with privacy regulations and to avoid showing you the cookie banner on every visit. This preference is stored entirely in your browser and is not transmitted to our servers.
If you decline cookies, we do not set any tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. The site functions identically whether you accept or decline. The only difference is that we won't record which climate links visitors find most surprising — a metric we use internally to understand which parts of the network people engage with most.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking scripts. We have no advertising relationships and no data-sharing agreements with any external platform. The JavaScript that runs on this site — our main.js file — is the only code that executes in your browser, and you can read it yourself. It's not minified or obfuscated.
How We Use Your Information
Server logs are used for security and troubleshooting purposes only. We review logs to detect malicious traffic, diagnose technical problems, and ensure the site remains available. Log retention is limited to 30 days, after which entries are automatically deleted.
Contact form submissions are used to respond to your inquiry. We retain these submissions for up to one year to maintain a record of our communications, after which they are deleted. If you request deletion of your contact information at any time, we will comply within 30 days.
We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or profiling. We do not build visitor profiles. We do not retarget visitors on other platforms. We do not engage in any form of automated decision-making based on personal data.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties. We do not share personal information with service providers, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.
The only external service we interact with is the Open-Meteo API, which provides weather data. When you load our site, your browser sends requests directly to api.open-meteo.com to fetch temperature data for our six network nodes. Open-Meteo does not receive any personal information about you from these requests — they only see the IP address of your browser making the API call, which is standard for all web requests. Open-Meteo's privacy policy governs their handling of this technical data, and we encourage you to review it at open-meteo.com.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect against unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction. Our hosting server is maintained by a commercial provider with standard security practices including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Contact form submissions are transmitted by email using TLS encryption.
However, no internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to or from our site. You share information at your own risk.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing activities; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Children's Privacy
Tenki Link is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 16, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
International Visitors
Tenki Link is operated from the United States. If you are visiting from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using our site, you consent to this transfer and processing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
